(KTVI)- It's time to post up to the buffet or lots of buffets, but after you've been at the party for awhile, are you sure those deviled eggs are still safe to eat? Food poisoning is far from festive.

Katie Lambert, Clinical Dietician from Barnes-Jewish Hospital is here to help us avoid any problems.

Holiday Food Safety Quiz:

Question- How soon after cooking and eating should you put away your leftovers?
Answer: 2 hours

Question-How long can you safely keep leftover perishable foods?
Answer: 3-4 days

Question-At what temperature should you reheat your leftovers?
Answer: 165°F

Question-What is the longest time frame you can freeze a turkey?
Answer:  1 year

Other key tips:

1) Wash your hands often

2) Separate ready-to-eat foods from raw meat, poultry, seafood and eggs

3) Cook to proper temperatures

4) Refrigerate promptly at 40°F or below
