Captain Derek Martin food drive held to help the needy

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Saturday, the “Firefighters Institute for Racial Equality” held its annual food drive in memory of Captain Derek Martin. The event was held at their office in north St. Louis.

Today was the 25th year for food drive, which was renamed in honor of Captain Derek Martin, who lost his life in 2002 while attempting to rescue another fallen firefighter.

Martin was the heart and soul of the annual food drive which provides thousands of baskets of food to needy families throughout the St. Louis area.
