Los Angeles, CA (KTLA) — An Orange County high school student with cerebral palsy was walking Friday after spending most of his life in a wheelchair.

Octavio Nieto is a 17-year-old senior enrolled in a special needs program at Tesoro High School that offers students “Tesoro dollars” for accomplishing their goals.

Nieto decided he would begin using his walker at the school in order to earn the dollars.

About two weeks ago, Nieto surprised everyone by walking for the first time without his walker.

Neito’s new goal is to walk at his graduation.
