CHARLACK, MO (KTVI) - The Major Case Squad is working to figure out who murdered a father of three in Charlack.  Police say he was killed in what appeared to be a failed carjacking attempt.

It happened around 7:15 Tuesday night, when the victim, 41 year-old Keith Inge, arrived home, and parked his car at the San Rafael apartments, just off Lackland and St. Charles Rock Road.

When Inge got out of his car, witnesses say two men in black hoodies approached him, and started firing shots at him.  He tried to run away.  Police say Inge was shot in the back and fell to the ground, between two apartment buildings.  Police say its unlikely Inge was targeted.

Major Case Squad Deputy Commander Sean Fagan says, "It was a cowardly act by whoever did it. And it's a tragedy because he was the father of three children."

Inge is survived by his long-term girlfriend and his children: 17 year-old twins, and a daughter, who is starting college this fall.

At this point, there are no suspects.  If you have any information, call the Charlack Police Department at 314-427-4715.
