ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-Two teenagers and an adult are in serious condition following a triple car crash in south St. Louis County overnight. It happened around 11:45 last night on northbound I-55 north of Lindbergh. A total of five people were injured.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says a 16-year-old driver and his two passengers were hurt when he lost control of his car, struck a concrete barrier, and was then struck by a second car that also struck the concrete barrier. The 16-year-old male driver and a 16-year-old female passenger were seriously injured. A 17-year-old male passenger suffered minor injuries.

The 42-year-old in the second car also suffered minor injuries.

A portion of the barrier traveled into the southbound lanes of I-55 where a third car struck the concrete and overturned, seriously injuring the 40-year-old driver.

I-55 was shut down for at least three hours while investigators worked the scene.
