ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - As salt trucks make their way across the St. Louis metro area, some cities were worried about just how long their supplies would last and where it would come from. St. Louis city keeps more than 35,000 tons on hand during the winter. Todd Waelterman with the St. Louis City Streets Division says they are working with a surplus and measuring their use on a week by week basis. Extremely cold temperatures versus snow are keeping use on the streets to a minimum. Salt from overseas may have caused prices to go up, but the preparation for what’s next continues as we all wait for the snow to come down.
