Two women die in head-on collision near Hecker, IL

MONROE COUNTY, IL (KTVI) – Two women are dead and two are injured after a head-on collision on Saturday night near Hecker, IL on Illinois 159.  Police say the 21-year-old driver of a Chevy Aveo swerved into oncoming traffic striking a Chevrolet Cobalt head-on.

The driver of the Aveo was taken to the hospital and was listed in serious, but stable condition.  The 20-year-old driver of the Cobalt was also taken to the hospital where she was later pronounced dead.  One of the rear seat passengers of the Cobalt was taken to a Belleville hospital to be treated for minor injuries.  The rear seat passenger of unit two was transported to a Redbud area Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police say there is no evidence of impairment or alcohol at the scene of the crash. This case remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
