ST. CHARLES COUNTY, MO (KTVI) – Police say a 47-year-old used a crossbow and a scoped rifle to threaten tree trimmers. Herbert Detjen now faces charges for unlawful use of a weapon after the incident on Friday.

Detjen fired his crossbow into a target just 15 feet away from employees of Nelson Tree Service, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.  They were working behind his home.  He emerged a short time later with a rifle and threatened to shoot one of the workers out of a tree.

Police say that Detjen had been drinking. He tested positive for alcohol consumption, according to court documents.  Bail is set at $10,000.
