Police search for suspects in school break-ins in Jefferson County

PEVELY, MO  (KTVI) - The  Dunklin R-V School District in Jefferson County is  asking for the public's  help in identifying  three suspects in connection with a break-in at two of their schools.

The  intruders made off with  valuable school equipment. Classes went on as normal in the Dunklin R-V School District  Thursday  while the suspects  responsible for breaking into and stealing  from  Herculaneum  High and  Pevely Elementary schools remain at large.

"We had three white males  that entered the high school  last night .  First at 11 p.m. they didn't do as much at the high school they could not get into the room  as much as they could.  Then about 3 a.m.  they entered the elementary school, " said  Stan Stratton,  Dunklin R-V Superintendent.

School  officials say the suspects  got away with three laptops from the high school, and two laptops  and 37 iPads from from  the elementary school .

The superintendent says there was no forced entry and the school has tightened security.

"During the day our buildings  are locked down and  that's why we really want to determine how did they get in ," said Stratton.

Police have video surveillance images of the intrusion and  are  reviewing the tapes before they release more details.  Authorities say the value of the  equipment stolen  is worth $21,000. Anyone with  information should contact police.
