ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)- Ferguson Protesters interrupted a Martin Luther King Day celebration at Harris-Stowe State University early Monday afternoon. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that around 1:00pm, about two-dozen protesters burst into the auditorium waving an upside-down American flag and chanting “No Justice, No Peace.” They grabbed a microphone and accused the university and the clergy in attendance of being part of the “establishment.”

Protesters left the building after Michael Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, appealed for calm and the King ceremony resumed.

Later, there was a confrontation between protesters and Harris-Stowe students about the disrupted event. Police were called to the scene.
