Vehicle fleeing police strikes car, injures three

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-Three people were hurt in a crash just north of downtown following a police chase from Illinois.

Around 7:20pm Saturday, police were pursuing a 2006 Ford Explorer that had been stolen from Highland, IL. The fleeing driver crossed the Stan Musial Veteran’s Memorial Bridge into north St. Louis before striking another a 2015 Toyota Highlander, knocking it into a fence at the intersection 10th and O’Fallon. Three people  in the other car were injured and had to be taken to the hospital. The victims are identified as man and woman, both 55,  and a 27-year-old man.

The suspect fled the scene on foot. Police were unable to locate him after an initial search, but an investigation led police to the suspect, a 28-year-old white male, and he was taken into custody. He told police he had broken into a church in the 1200 block of 11th to hide.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
