EAST ST. LOUIS, IL (KTVI)- East Louis High School student Terry Beckner Jr. is going to play football for the Missouri Tigers. Rated the No. 2 prospect in the nation by ESPN.com, the 6-foot-5, 298 pound defensive lineman chose the Tigers after considering Florida State, Auburn and Ohio State. Beckner completed his senior season with 116 tackles, three sacks and one interception.

FOX 2’s Charlie Marlow was at the high school as the announcement was made. “Of all the signing days I’ve been to over the years, East St. Louis is the best. Full on pep rally mode, MC hyping it up, cheerleaders, etc.”

According to the Post-Dispatch, Beckner was a “strong presence” on the offensive line for the Flyers. He was also named the Post-Dispatch All-Metro Defensive Player of the Year.

It is the school’s hope that Beckner will extend the Mizzou Tigers’ tradition of producing standout defensive linemen who go on to have careers with the NFL.
