ST. LOUIS - When it comes to buying sports memorabilia, often times it's buyer beware. The Better Business Bureau says fake sellers are a real problem.

As fans warm up to their favorite players, excitement heats up that it could be the Cardinals’ year. That emotional boost leads to a boost in memorabilia sales which unfortunately, too many counterfeiters try to capitalize on.

Last year, federal investigators seized almost 400,000 fake items valued over $38 million sold on websites like eBay, which aren't regulated.

As Fox 2 News anchor Rafer Weigel finds out, the Cardinals and Major League Baseball do more than most to make sure fans get a piece of the team – and it’s the real deal.
