BRENTWOOD, MO (KPLR)- Security video and photos inside the Brentwood Club Fitness gym helped police identify a suspect in an assault at the club early in the morning on February 17.

A female patron told police a man attacked her by pulling her from a workout machine and wrestling her to the ground where he attempted to sexually assault her.  She fought him off and ran.  He fled, but was caught two days later not far from the workout facility.

Greg Cenatiempo, one of the owners of the 22 club chain, said someone held the door open and the suspect managed to get in without swiping a membership pass card.  Management added an overnight desk person to the staff at the Brentwood club in the 5300 block of Muscik Memorial Drive to improve security.

Some members said there are new signs in the facility emphasizing the rule not to let anyone in if they don’t swipe their scan cards.

The club is located in an office and retail complex just west of Hanley Rd and south of I-64/40.  It is within walking distance of a MetroLink station.

The suspect, described by police as a homeless man from the Hannibal, MO area is 39-year old Grant Deere.  He is accused of first degree burglary and sodomy or attempted sodomy first degree.  Deere is being held in the St. Louis County Jail on a $125,000 cash only bond.
