Three dead, including the suspect, in pair of mid-Missouri shootings

BOONE COUNTY, MO (KTVI)-Three people are dead and another person wounded in a pair of shootings just east of Columbia, MO late Saturday night. According to the Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the 4400 block of Santa Anna Drive and found two people dead and a third victim who had been wounded.

Witnesses told deputies that the suspected shooter had fled the area in a white four-door vehicle. Deputies pursued the suspect's vehicle until he lost control on U.S. 63. The suspect got out of the car with a handgun and exchanged gunfire with a sheriff's deputy. The suspected shooter was shot and killed.

The wounded victim is being treated at an area hospital.

The Missouri Highway Patrol will investigate officer-involved shooting death.
