ST. CLAIR COUNTY, IL (KTVI) - A 77-year-old St. Clair County man is the victim of an apparent setup.  Authorities say the man was beaten, tied up and kidnapped from his home on Anderson Lane in an apparent robbery attempt.

19-year-old Brittany Davis is charged with aggravated kidnapping and an aggravated battery charge.  At least one more person could face charges.  Davis lives near the victim.  Court documents state she tied the victim’s hand behind his back with a belt.

Authorities say it was a few minutes before midnight on Saturday when the victim answered his door and let the woman into his home.  She’s accused of running to the back and un-securing a door so an accomplice could get inside.

Neighbor Joan Dahm talked with the victim a few days after the incident.  She said he appeared to be okay.

“He did say they put a gun to his head when he was in the house,” said Dahm.

The victim told her he was tied up, had his mouth stuffed with a muffle and was forced into the trunk of his car, but safely escaped.

“He just opened the latch on the inside of the trunk and jumped out,” said Dahm.

Authorities say Davis and the victim’s car were found on the parking lot of a nearby Lowe’s. Authorities are expected to release more details Thursday.
