ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI)-- A St. Louis family have taken your average foosball table in the basement and turned it into human size.

It's a new trend that has folks literally lining up to kick the ball down the field.

It all started with Sherri Brown`s father.

“He said have you seen this on YouTube and I said no. And he said Sherri I can build that,” explained owner Sherri Brown.

So Brown and her partner Clayton Delaney decided to open S. L. Sportsplay Home of the Great American Human Foosball.

“The game is played 12 on 12. We have leagues that people can sign up in advance. Our summer leagues are starting May 7, so we are doing registration right now,” Brown said.

The rules of human sized foosball are very similar to regular foosball.

“In the Great American Human Foosball your hands must stay on the handles the entire time. So just like in the real foosball games everybody`s working on one pole, one rail. The same thing is true in this game. Everyone stays together on one line,” stated owner Clayton Delaney.

This is something that all ages can enjoy.

“You want to be at least 40 inches tall to be equivalent, even with the bar so you can see what`s going on in the game,” said Delaney. “'We have many age groups. We have 16-year-olds playing one time, all the way to 65-year-olds. So we have that large age group that`s really playing together. You`d be surprised who`s stealing the ball.”

If you want to play for fun, that is not a problem.

“Aggressive playing teams are playing with aggressive playing teams and non aggressive teams are playing together and having fun. So the non competitive league is easy going,” Delaney explained.

Not only are you having a great time but it`s also good for your health.

Brown said, “It`s a really great workout. People are always surprised with how sweaty they get.”

So they're encouraging people to come out and have a good time. If you would like to try human-size foosball for free, come to an open house next Friday, March 20th from 6pm-9pm.
