JEFFERSON CITY, MO (KTVI) – A Florida telemarketer can no longer call any residential phone numbers in Missouri following a settlement with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, because that company violated the state’s No Call List.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster filed suit in November 2014 against Florida-based Space Coast Security LLC and its owner, Wayne Walton, accusing the business of using robocalls to pitch security and home monitoring systems to Missourians. When consumers attempted to opt-out of receiving future calls, Space Coast Security would often continue calling them.

According to a settlement, Space Coast Security and Walton must pay $16,000 in civil penalty and another $2,000 to reimburse the state for costs of prosecution.

People can register their landline or cellphone numbers with the Missouri No Call Registry online or by calling 1-866-662-2551. Missourians who have registered for the No Call List but still receive solicitations can file a complaint at 866-BUZZOFF (289-9633).
