CENTREVILLE, IL (KTVI) - You Paid For It investigates a Metro East community that may have been too anxious to make a deal for a proposed hotel development.

Now the project was never built and the would be developer gone with a half million dollars of your money.

The Mayor of Centreville says the developers wanted to put in a strip club next to a new hotel and officials said no.

Centreville already has 3 strip clubs and the Mayor says they didn't want another one.

He says the village pulled the plug on the deal after wiring the developer your money.

But I question whether the village did enough background checks before handing over your dollars
