ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – A 56-year-old woman is being evaluated in a hospital after brandishing a machete on a city street Tuesday, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported.

Officers were called to the 4300 block of Dr. Martin Luther King Drive just before 1 p.m., the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

Once on the scene, police saw the woman on the sidewalk, holding a machete. Fearing she might harm herself or others, police tried to immobilize her with a stun gun, but failed.

However, the woman was momentarily distracted, at which point police subdued her.

Police said the woman could not tell them her name, where she was, or any other basic information.
