St. Ann police officer resigns after alleged drunk driving accident

ST. ANN, MO (KTVI) – A St. Ann reserve police officer has resigned following an alleged drunk driving accident, were he’s accused of driving into a house on English Saddle Road in north St. Louis County. St. Louis County Police arrested the 22-year-old Jacob Klaus Saturday evening.

Klaus resigned following a meeting with St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez.

Klaus says the stress of serving on the front line of the Ferguson Protest had taken at toll on him, causing him to start drinking.

The department says it will reach out to officer and staff services to help those in need of stress management.

St. Ann Police Chief Aaron Jimenez tells FOX 2 that is department assigned 14 officers full-time to Ferguson during the protest.
