Steel Credit Union robbed in Granite City

GRANITE CITY, IL (KTVI) – The Granite City Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that occurred at the Steel Credit Union Tuesday early afternoon. Police says the suspect walked into the credit union around 1:30 pm and gave a teller a note demanding money. The teller complied, giving the man an unknown amount of cash.

The suspect left the credit union and go into a waiting vehicle, with a driver.

The suspect left the scene in a 4-door maroon vehicle with the partial license plate number of 116. The car was last seen on 20th St. at Lee Ave. headed for State highway 203.

The suspect is described as: 6’0 to 6’02, 250-280 Lbs. wearing blue jean style work jacket, gray hoodie, with a black stocking cap on his head, blue jeans, and light gray tennis shoes.
