Illinois National Guard soldiers charged with trying to join ISIS

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Federal prosecutors say a soldier with the Illinois Army National Guard vowed to bring, The flames of war to the heart of America if he couldn’t get to the Middle East to join ISIS.

Hasan Edmonds, and his cousin Jonas Edmonds, 29, are charged with conspiring to provide material support to an Islamic State group.

Prosecutors say the two contemplated an armed attack against a military facility in northern Illinois where Hasan Edmonds had trained.

They were both was arrested Wednesday night at Midway Airport in Chigaco as they tried to board a plane on the first leg of a trip to Egypt.
