South city man charged in fatal animal abuse case

ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – Prosecutors charged a St. Louis man Friday for killing one dog and injuring another. According to city’s Animal Cruelty Task Force, the defendant, identified as Robert Taylor, of the 2100 block of Keokuk, admitted to striking a four-pound Chihuahua dog several times in the face and head on April 15, 2015. The animal died as a result of its injuries. He also admitted to beating another Chihuahua in the face with the metal end of a leash.

Taylor is in custody and has been charged with felony and misdemeanor animal abuse.

Approximately 200 animal abuse citations have been issued since the formation of the task force.
