St. Louis city gets $1M grant to train youths in home construction

ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – St. Louis city officials have announced a new program the will employ youths in building homes in the city. The city won a $1 million dollar grant to put young men from 16-24 years to work constructing new homes. The grant is expected to employ 75 people in partnership with Ranken Technical College.

The youths will be taught skilled trades with hands on training in building single family homes for low-income residents in the city’s fifth ward.

Nine people have already started training.
