ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – The Baltimore woman seen on video smacking her teenage son for participating in Monday’s riots is being called “mother of the year” and “hero mom,” with even the mayor of Baltimore saying “more parents should be involved.”

But was this a case of discipline, or more like survival?
