ST. LOUIS (KTVI) - The Faith Temple Church of GOD in north St. Louis was packed with firefighters from all over the city Thursday night to honor a firefighter.

Charles Bates Jr. died in a car crash on April 29 on Forest Park Parkway between Skinker Boulevard and Big Bend Boulevard.

Colleagues, family, and friends paid tribute to Bates’ life, friendship, and 21 years of service in the St. Louis City Fire Department.

“Every fire department has a strong brotherhood, they go through the same things, spend lots of time together and even know lots about each other's families,” said St. Louis Fire Chief Dennis Jenkerson.
