SOUTH COUNTY, MO (KTVI)- An incredibly emotional journey for the family of an Air Force Veteran killed while serving in Vietnam. That journey will at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery.
Louis Clever and nine others were on a plane that was on a secret mission over Laos in February of 1969 when the plane was shot down. Clever`s remains were finally returned to St. Louis on Wednesday for burial today at Jefferson Barracks. The story of how his remains were found is simply incredible.
Clever and his fellow military members were intercepting radio transmissions when they were shot down. Because the mission was secret, very little information was released. Clever`s family was told clever and the others on the plane were missing in action. They were eventually declared dead.
Clever`s son Paul asked the government to reopen the case to try and find his father`s remains but the request was denied.
