St. Charles carjacking leads to police chase ending in crash

ST. CHARLES, MO (KTVI) – A carjacking led to a police chase that ended in a crash Thursday evening.

Police say that a 24-year-old man was walking to his car in the 2900 block of Pleasant Valley in the Country Club Apartments Thursday at around 11pm.  A vehicle was blocking his car in its parking space.  Police say two suspects approached the man, displayed a handgun and told him  to surrender his 2005 Infinity SUV.  The victim complied and the suspects took off in his vehicle.  The other vehicle followed. The victim was unharmed.

The victim’s vehicle was spotted by police traveling eastbound on I-70 near Lambert Airport moments after the carjacking was reported.  They chased the 2005 Infinity SUV on I-70 to O’Fallon Park in St. Louis when the victim’s vehicle crashed.

Two suspects ran from the accident. One suspect was taken into custody by Woodson Terrace Police.  The other suspect was not taken into custody.  The second vehicle involved was not located.

The suspect in police custody has been identified as Deontrell Moore, 17, of Paulian Place in St. Louis.  He has been charged with 1st degree robbery and is being held at the St. Charles County Jail.
