(KTVI) – FOX 2 has learned the lawsuit that Michael Brown’s family and his friend Dorian Johnson filed against the city of Ferguson, former police chief Tom Jackson and former police officer Darren Wilson has been moved to federal court.

Johnson was with Michael Brown back on August 9th when Brown was fatally shot by Officer Wilson following a confrontation on a street in the Canfield Green apartment complex.

The suit alleges that Officer Wilson assaulted Johnson, violated his constitutional rights, and inflicted emotional pain.

Ferguson, Jackson and Wilson requested that lawsuits be put before the federal court, because the suits brought up constitutional issues better addressed in federal court.
