ST LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - The story of Zella Jackson-Price and her daughter Melanie’s reunion made national headlines. It all happened in April, 2015 after being apart for 50 years. DNA tests proved the two are mother and daughter and Zella said her baby was stolen from the former Homer G. Phillips hospital when she told then "Baby Diane" was dead.

On Wednesday, new documents released from attorney Al Watkins from the St. Louis City Family Court says that Melanie was born and abandoned by her mother at St. Louis City Number One hospital on November 25th 1965.

The document also states that the court cannot ensure the validity of the information contained in the files. The former city number one hospital closed in the late 1980's. Watkins says the family filed paperwork to get adoption files released and so far limited information on the adoption has been available, he added that the new information is outrageous.

"Zella said what black woman in 1965 is not going to go across town to city hospital number one to the white hospital to have her baby she wouldn't even travel down there. If this baby was born at City Hospital #1 there has to be medical records there is a lot of document fabrication that has to go on and they would not have been able to cover all of their tracks. She made it very clear that in no uncertain terms that she would no more leave her baby at City Hospital #1 than she would eat her own leg." said Watkins

Melanie is planning to move to St. Louis to be closer to her family. The family has a court date set for July 13th.
