JOPLIN, MO (KTVI) – Sports fans can get a little cranky when a regular season game is preempted by their local television station. Oftentimes, those games are preempted or interrupted due to coverage of breaking news or severe weather.

But according to a post appearing on sports blog Deadspin, an NBC affiliate in Joplin, Missouri chose to preempt Game 7 of the NHL Western Conference Finals to air musical variety show Branson Country USA.

The Joplin station later chose to air boxing as opposed to the deciding game between the Chicago Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks.
