ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – Two people were shot and killed overnight in a north city neighborhood, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said Tuesday.

According to investigators, the shooting occurred around 3:30 a.m. on Natural Bridge and N. Newstead avenues, in the Greater Ville neighborhood. The Greater Ville was one of five areas of north St. Louis targeted for hot-spot policing in mid-May.

Police would only identify the victims as a man and woman.

So far in 2015, 72 people have been victims of homicide in St. Louis, a pace that would exceed last year’s total of 159.
