FENTON, MO (KTVI) – Can a sports and entertainment district like Ballpark Village work in Fenton?  Well, a plan has been presented.

A presentation was made Thursday night to the Board of Alderman in Fenton.  They want to build a multi-purpose event center with 6200 seats that could fit up to 8,000 for concerts and be anchored by a professional hockey team and retail district.

The renderings and idea come from the company Hat Trick Consultants based out of Texas.  Their president, Mike Barack, is a St. Louis native and thinks he has a great idea for the area which used to be home to the old Chrysler plant.

Barack says, "Knowing the area, the growth of West County and South County and with the logistics park having nothing there, this is the perfect match in location."

His company has owned the Texas Brahmas, a CHL hockey team, for 15 years. He says they know what it takes to have a successful sports and entertainment district.   In addition, the area  around the venue will have restaurants, like Ballpark Village.

Barack adds that venues in suburban areas, with a large population base that are tied in with a project like this are successful. Not to mention that major highways like I-44, I-270 and 141 are all close.

Barack says, "The goal would be to have hockey team on ice and all events take place in 2017-2018 season."
