RENO, NV (KTVI) - A U.S. Air Force Technical Sgt. who disappeared while awaiting court martial at Scott Air Force Base was arrested more than 1,800 miles away in Reno, Nevada.

Technical Sgt. David Helm was stopped Monday night along Interstate 580. He was scheduled to appear before a military court on Monday prior to absconding.

Helm is accused of sexually assaulting a girl younger than age 16 at several locations in 2013 and 2014, including Scott Air Force Base; in Dayton, Ohio; and in LaFollette and Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

The Air Force first alerted the public to Helm's disappearance on June 4. At the time, Helm allegedly told friends he was traveling to eastern Tennessee to visit family.
