ST. CHARLES (KTVI) – For over three decades, a St. Louis area dollar theater gave families and filmgoers a wonderfully cheap option to see movies months after their initial release.

But now with the ubiquity of online services such as Netflix and movie vending machines like Redbox, the days of the dollar theater have become numbered, and St. Andrews Cinema in St. Charles will shut its doors for good after Labor Day weekend.

The building that houses the theater, located near I-70 and Zumbehl Road, is up for sale.
