Emergency crews called to river rescue in Jefferson County

HOUSE SPRINGS, MO (KTVI) – Jefferson County emergency services responded to a report of a possible drowning at the Big River near Rockford Beach.  Fire crews, an ambulance and police were on the scene.

Five people were wading across the river when they were  swept over the dam and got stuck on a sandbar.  Everyone appears to be OK.  Emergency crews are helping the swimmers get beck to the other side of the river.  One female had minor injuries.

The fire department put a boat water to help with the rescue.
