Father allegedly fired from Chili’s after standing up for son with Down Syndrome

PITTSBURGH, PA – A woman is using Facebook share her outrage after she says her boyfriend was fired from a Chili’s restaurant. Crista Miller tells KDKA that her boyfriend, Bruce Casper, was standing up for their son with Down Syndrome. He would not tolerate the employees calling him, “retarded.”

Miller and Casper are getting married later this month. The couple has three children together. KDKA reports that their 16-month old son Kyron has Down Syndrome.

Miller says in the Facebook post that her boyfriend was allegedly called “retarded” by female employees in front of restaurant management. She goes on to say that when wouldn’t tolerate the word, the manager said, “You can leave then,” and he did.

Chili’s Restaurants sent this statement about the situation:

“We completely share your concerns and our teams are working hard to understand the full picture of what happened. We take these comments to heart and do not allow team members to use these words in our restaurants. We’re moving as fast as we can and will take the appropriate action after our investigation is complete. Out of respect for team member privacy, we cannot share any additional details on the investigation.”
