ST. LOUIS (AP) –┬áServices are set for a retired St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter who was fatally injured last week when a car hit him as he walked to church.

The Post-Dispatch reports that 83-year-old Leo Fitzmaurice died last Friday at a St. Louis hospital, two days after the accident.

Fitzmaurice reportedly was walking to church when a car turning at the intersection at about 10 mph hit him with its front bumper.

Police say the driver stayed at the scene, and no charges are expected.

Fitzmaurice worked 22 years for the Post-Dispatch. He previously worked for newspapers in Missouri’s Jefferson City, Illinois’ Carbondale, and Jackson in Mississippi.

His funeral Mass was scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis, with interment at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvary Cemetery.
