Peter Bourjos’ 10th inning slide was the winning run in the Cardinals 3-2 victory over the Cubs on Friday night at Busch Stadium. Jhonny Peralta had grounded to second base, but Bourjos, who had doubled earlier in the 10th inning, slid under the Cubs Addison Russell’s throw for the winning run. Seth Maness was the winning pitcher in relief. The Cardinals started the scoring in the 3rd inning on Randal Grichuk’s triple to the gap in right-center field that scored Yadier Molina. Rookie Greg Garcia tied the game in 8th inning at 2-2, with a pinch hit home run. It’s Garcia’s first Major League home run. John Lackey pitched seven innings, allowing just two runs. The victory raises the Cardinals season record to a Major League best 49-=25.
