ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) – St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce will not seek re-election next year. Joyce has been the city’s top prosecutor since 2001.

Joyce posted a statement to the circuit attorney’s website announcing her decision.

“I’ve given the majority of my adult life to protecting victims, seeking justice and working to make my hometown a better place for all,” Joyce wrote.

She says she has put all of her heart and soul into doing what was best for her community.

Joyce plans to travel with her husband and spend more time with their grandchildren.

She has endorsed Assistant Circuit Attorney Mary Pat Carl in the 2016 Democratic Primary, as her replacement.
