FESTUS, MO (KTVI) - Two women died overnight Wednesday as rising flood waters swept cars off roadways near Festus.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said four vehicles were carried away near Buck Creek and Spur Road.

Sgt. Al Nothum, an MSHP spokesman, said a woman called a family member and the phone went dead. The family member said she was standing on top of the car during the call.

Investigators spent Thursday morning and afternoon searching anyone trapped inside any of the vehicles. They found the bodies of 35-year-old Sarah Barrett of De Soto and 52-year-old Angela Kirby of Festus.

Authorities finished their search and believe there are no more bodies to recover.
