She suggests that cooks plan their meals before they go to the grocery store. This avoids buying unnecessary items. Robbins also suggests decorations, if you head to the dollar store first.
Sides are a must. But, Robbins says potato salad, baked beans and corn-on-the-cob are easy and inexpensive.
