Body found in farmhouse fire

WATERLOO, IL (KTVI) – Waterloo police are investigating a body found in a vacant farmhouse that was set ablaze early Wednesday morning. Police Chief Jim Trantham said the farmhouse was 100-year-old and was located in the 900 block of Monroe Street.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 1 am. The body was discovered after the fire was put out.

The body was taken to Belleville for x-rays and an autopsy that could reveal more information as early as Thursday.

Trantham did say a report of a missing 24-yer-old man was taken around 10:30 pm Tuesday night, but it’s unclear if the two are related.
