ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - I Scream Cakes turned a puppy from the St. Louis County Pet Adoption Center into a guinea pig for their chilled dog treats. I Scream owner Kerry Soraci shared her recipe for doggie ice cream on FOX2. Rhett NIcks held a puppy looking to cool off from the heat and humidity.

But, Soraci warned anyone making their own treat at home to stay away from chocolate, cream or milk, sugar, grapes, avocados or added salt. These can make a pet sick. Instead, she recommended lots of veggies like sweet potatoes, pumpkin, carrots, and green beans.

She also said meat broth, low-sodium natural peanut butter, coconut and fish oils and oatmeal are great ingredients for dog treats.
