ST. LOUIS, MO (KTVI) - A hidden camera video released yesterday reveals the Planned Parenthood's senior director of medical research discussing the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses. The doctor makes graphic claims in detail while eating lunch. The sale of these body parts is highly illegal.

Two actors posed as employees from a biotech firm to capture this confession on hidden camera. In reality, they are with the pro-life group "The Center for Medical Progress.”

The group claims Planned Parenthood is breaking the law by harvesting and trafficking body parts, and calls for a congressional investigation. Planned Parenthood says it is helping patients who want to donate tissue for scientific research and there is no financial benefit.

On Twitter, Missouri Republican Congresswoman Ann Wagner, writes "this is perhaps the most evil thing i have ever seen."

Congresswoman Wagner joins Fox 2 on the phone from Washington to expand on her opinion about the video.

Rep. Wagner Calls for Investigation into Planned Parenthood Allegations

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Congresswoman Ann Wagner today held a press conference with Reps. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), Sean Duffy (R-Wisc.), Martha Roby (R-Ala.) and a bipartisan group of Members calling for investigations and committee hearings on the recently released undercover video showing the top doctor at Planned Parenthood soliciting buyers for fetal organs and tissue.

Rep. Wagner speaking at today’s press conference

“The atrocities described in the video that surfaced yesterday are beyond grotesque. As a defender of the unborn, I joined my colleagues yesterday in calling for immediate committee hearings and an investigation. I thank Chairmen Upton and Goodlatte for taking such swift action to bring this issue forward in their committees,” Rep. Wagner said.

In the video, Dr. Deborah Nucatola, Senior Director of Medical Services for Planned Parenthood, can be seen discussing how Planned Parenthood sells body parts of aborted babies and uses partial-birth abortions to harvest intact body parts.

In a letter to Chairmen Fred Upton (R-Mich.) and Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.), the Members ask the House Judiciary and Energy & Commerce Committees to investigate:

  • trafficking of fetal tissue that examines current federal laws and regulations in their Committee’s jurisdiction,
  • potential violations of current law,
  • Identify areas where the law may be insufficient.
  • Explore the activities of abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood, companies that broker fetal tissue and any incentives created by National Institutes of Health funding for research using the body parts of unborn children.

Dear Chairman Upton and Chairman Goodlatte,

Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in the nation doing over 300,000 abortions per year.  That is roughly a quarter of all abortions in America and means that on average Planned Parenthood carries out one abortion every 2 minutes.

While this fact is outrageous enough, we are deeply disturbed by new allegations that Planned Parenthood abortion clinics not only profit from the intentional destruction of unborn children, but also sell children’s organs piece by piece to fetal tissue brokers.  These actions are unconscionable and these horrific abuses must be stopped.

In a recently released video a top Planned Parenthood executive describes huddling with tissue brokers early in the day to determine what organs they would like to “procure” and altering procedures to make sure she is able to obtain the necessary body parts.  She explains how she carefully places her graspers such that she can crush the baby’s body without damaging the organs that the broker is seeking. At one point she even describes abortion providers altering the abortion such that she could be describing the illegal partial birth abortion procedure.

Also in the video, the executive discusses payments of $30-$100 for fetal body parts. She further indicates that they want to avoid being perceived as selling tissue, so they want to come up with a rate that “looks like it is a reasonable number for the effort that is allotted on their part.”

These revelations give good reason for Congress to take a serious look at the practices of Planned Parenthood and the companies that buy and sell the body parts and organs of unborn children who are dismembered in Planned Parenthood clinics.

We greatly appreciate your announcement that you will be launching an investigation and urge you to act swiftly to examine current federal laws and regulations in your Committee’s jurisdiction, potential violations of current law, and identify areas where the law may be insufficient. In addition we urge you to explore the activities of abortion providers such as Planned Parenthood, companies that broker fetal tissue and any incentives created by National Institutes of Health funding for research using the body parts of unborn children.

Sincerely,
