DUPO ILLINOIS (KTVI) - A Dupo Illinois woman was attacked in her own front yard by two dogs.   The victim's is still in shock after the vicious attack.

55-year-old Brenda   Bowder was walking her two small dogs  in her Dupo  neighborhood when two large dogs attacked her. Bowder says she is lucky to be alive." I just could not believe it was happening to me . You hear of dog attacks all the time.  But I guess when it happens in your own front yard, I just thought I was going to die"said Brenda Bowder.

The incident happen last week. Bowder say the dogs were left in a fence at a neighbor's vacant house to guard the property but somehow the dogs were able to get out of the fence  and attacked her and the family's dog." The  dog took a bite out of  my hip, then he moved down to my leg and he just kept biting my leg and shaken my leg.  I was on the side-walk and ended in a ditched," said Brenda.

Brenda  says the two dogs that attacked her were a German Shepard and an Akita. Brenda's husband says the dogs just kept biting and dragging her leaving his wife with at least 25 bites and 8 huge chucks out of her body . Brenda has bite wounds on her arms legs and back. Her neighbors came to the rescue." They saved her life. If they would not have been out here, she would be in a morgue instead of sitting here healing." said David Bowder.

The St. Clair County Animal Control Department has the attacking dogs.  Their fate is yet to be determined. Brenda says she hopes her terrible ordeal will serve as a warning to other pet owners .
