SWANSEA, IL (KTVI) - An accused sexual predator is behind bars Thursday after abusing his girlfriend’s 10-year-old daughter and then telling a friend about it on social media.

U.S. Marshals arrested Mikel Grodin, also known to some as Gary ‘MJ’ Grodin, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A woman that was with him was arrested on unrelated charges. Authorities have begun the process of extraditing Grodin back to Illinois.

Grodin was living with his girlfriend when he began the attacks on her daughter. He is charged with specific sexual attacks on at least six different days ranging from April to June of 2015 year. In some cases, Grodin allegedly bound the child with zip ties while he assaulted her. There are also 17 additional counts of child pornography against Grodin.

According to Swansea police, authorities were notified about a possible sexual assault of a minor by the suspect’s friend, who lives in another state. The friend contacted authorities after being told about the crimes via Facebook.

On Wednesday, the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office handed down a 31-count warrant against Grodin. However, prosecutors are concerned this child isn’t the only one Grodin may have abused.
