ROXANA, IL (KTVI)- A disturbing story is unfolding in South Roxana, Illinois. A maintenance worker at the Connor Place Apartments has been arrested and charged with child sex crimes. The suspect is identified as 67 year old Richard Heatherly.

Heatherly is facing two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
South Roxana police say Heatherly is already a registered sexual predator who was out on federal parole for the offense of child pornography.

He was apparently paroled last October.

Court documents say Heatherly abused two young girls who are seven and eight-years-old. The girls told their mother about the abuse and then she went to authorities. The abuse allegedly happened last Wednesday. Residents at the complex say Heatherly was kind to people especially to all of the children in the area.

That kindness is now coming into question.

However, many we talked with were still stunned to hear about Heatherly`s arrest and the accusations against him.

Heatherly was arrested at his Wood River home without incident. He is being held at the Madison County Jail on a $1 million bond.

Authorities are concerned that there could be more victims.

In fact, South Roxana police are strongly encouraging parents to call them if their child spent any time with Heatherly.
