MILLSTADT, IL (KTVI) – Powerful winds coupled with lightning and heavy rain left behind a concentrated area of damage in Millstadt Monday night.  The boarded-up Farmer’s Inn building sustained roof damage.  A nearby barn had its roof trashed.  The damage was concentrated in the area of Illinois State Highway 158 and Triple Lakes Road.

“I was hoping the house wouldn’t, the rood wouldn’t blow off,” said Noah Baumann.   “It was pretty scary.”

The Millstadt resident says a lightning strike contributed to a large tree branch falling just inches from his recently repaired car.

“I can’t believe it didn’t hit it.”

Other nearby residents spent the night cleaning up downed tree branches.  A backyard playground set was flattened by the wind.  No one injured.
